Ski conditions

Stephen Sollows was out at the park today and this is what he reported.

The skiing was not great at the park today. There is about 4 inches of fresh light powder and the glide is poor. I was unable to groom as we need a couple of more inches or so for the snowmobile to work OK. The paved loops are all passable with some patches wearing down to asphalt or gravel and the campground is similar. Caution on hills is necessary. If you hit a piece of gravel or asphalt you can stop in a hurry or do a nice “head plant”.
Please use caution if you are out at the park skiing or walking. I will keep you posted as to what the conditions are and if the cabin will be open.

Chairs needed

Over the summer we have lost a few of the chairs that we had at the cabin. We like to have a few chairs for sitting around the woodstove and for outside around the campfire. If anyone has some chairs similar to this, in good condition, that they would like to donate please contact me, Wendy, at cheboguemaj@eastlink.ca or 902-881-2566.

Thank you to everyone for your support.

Reasons to become a Sponsor.

The Friends of Ellenwood encourage all our subscribers to become sponsors and to renew their support annually. Sponsorships are $10/yr for individuals and $15/yr for families. The sponsorship form is on-line and can be downloaded.

Your financial support helps in the so many ways: It helps us to provide family friendly activities from September to May, at no cost. We are able to provide, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and water for your enjoyment, the wood  for the woodstove, that keeps the cabin warm is purchased with this money.

When it snows, we are able to hire a local person to keep the walking path clear. This year, we will need to buy gas for the snowmobile, which pulls the groomer, when we get all the snow.

We are also hoping to purchase some additional cross-country skis, boots, and poles to add to our current stock of equipment for those who would like to give the sport a try this winter.

We hope that you will come out and enjoy the park as much as we do.
